Teva’s Steps Towards Sustainability: A Revolution

Introduction to Teva’s Sustainability Efforts

Teva has been making significant strides in reducing its environmental footprint. Their comprehensive approach includes reducing water usage, improving materials, and working closely with supply chain partners to enhance water conservation efforts.

Water Usage Reduction

Since 2017, Teva has successfully reduced its water usage by 32%. This achievement was made possible through innovative packaging improvements and sustained efforts with their supply chain partners. Teva continues to focus on further reducing their overall water usage, ensuring every step they take contributes to a more sustainable future.

Use of Recycled Materials

In 2020, Teva made a groundbreaking shift by transitioning 100% of their iconic straps to traceable, verifiable recycled plastic using REPREVE® yarn. This initiative led to the diversion of 40 million plastic bottles from landfills, transforming waste into practical, eco-friendly products. Teva doesn’t stop at recycled straps; they are also exploring sustainable alternatives for other key materials, aiming to minimize the environmental impact of their products.

Commitment to Ethical Sourcing

Teva’s dedication to sustainability extends to the ethical sourcing of materials. All leather used by Teva is sourced from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group, an organization committed to promoting sustainable business practices in the leather industry. In addition, Teva supports the Better Cotton Initiative, the largest cotton sustainability program in the world, and has earned a spot on the Textile Exchange leader board for their use of recycled polyester.

Waste Reduction Initiatives

Teva is also focusing on waste reduction by working with factories and suppliers to minimize waste and divert it from landfills whenever possible. The company has been reducing packaging and, since 2017, has decreased the total packing weight by 30%. These steps are part of Teva’s wider commitment to sustainability and responsible environmental stewardship.
