Ngapa Jukurrpa (Water Dreaming) Canvas Art Print – Highly detailed and contemporary in style, this breathtaking piece features a cluster of uneven shapes, short dashes, and longer flowing lines, all moving together in harmony. Portraying Puyurru, west of Yuendumu, this piece tells the story of Water Dreaming. Two Jangala men, rainmakers, sang to unleash a giant storm, which travelled across Country from east to west. In contemporary Warlpiri paintings, traditional iconography is used to represent the “Jukurrpa” (Dreaming). Short dashes often depict “mangkurdu” (cumulus and stratocumulus clouds) and longer, flowing lines represent “ngawarra” (flood waters). Small circles are used to represent “mulju” (soakages) and river bed.
