Rainbow Jungle – This playful still life abstract is a blast of strong dark colour painted with thick textured brush strokes in acrylic paint. A fantasy garden at night scene depicts soft blooms of Proteas and Lillies sitting almost silently beside the prominent Birds of Paradise, that are commanding attention to stand out against the dense foliage, shown in complementary shades of green. Sitting alongside a multitude of small blooms that fill the foreground. The deep blue textured background is littered with an army of imaginary creatures including a tiny crowned lion and large bright yellow parrot. If you look closely you will also find some small tigers hiding amongst the flowers, as well as a cheery little tucan. Lara Meintjes is a US-based, South African painter who isn’t afraid to experiment mixing bold colours with soft floral imagery.
